Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss Announces INIC Receives HOPWA Grant of $192,000 for Housing

Mayor Tony Vauss of Irvington is pleased to announce that Irvington’s Neighborhood Improvement Corporation (INIC), directed by Deborah Simpkins, received a Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) award of $192,600 from the Newark Eligible Metropolitan Service Area (NEMSA). NEMSA received the funds from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

“We are pleased to receive these funds,” said Mayor Vauss. “These monies will enable us to meet the needs of more of our residents who are in need of housing and other residential services.”

“This award of more than $190,000 will enable INIC to provide housing and related services to people living with HIV/AIDS,” said Director Simpkins. “This will help us in our quest to end homelessness in Irvington.” The funds are for calendar year 2015.
