Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss announced that New Jersey American Water and the Irvington Fire Department, will be flushing water hydrants throughout Irvington between April 6 and April 19, between the hours of 10:00pm and 5:00am. The Fire Department will also be performing fire hydrant Spring maintenance, which includes: checking the hydrants for damage, cleaning the area around the hydrants, and repainting the hydrants, if needed.
“This is part of our mission to make Irvington safe,” said Mayor Vauss. “Due to the low water levels that occur with the flushing, some residents may notice a browning of the water. This is very temporary and will not create a health issue.”
