Dr. October Hudley

PHOTO - October HudleyDr. October Hudley was sworn in as Councilperson At-Large on July 1, 2014. She is dedicated to serve the township she loves so dearly and is committed to help make Irvington Strong.

She is a resident and home owner for over 40 years of the Township of Irvington and attended the following Irvington Public Schools; Grove Street School, Myrtle Ave School (University Middle) and Frank H. Morrell (Irvington High School).

She contributes much of her success having been strongly guided and influenced by her late grandmother, Essie Staton, late Mother Barbara Ann Staton, and late sister Demoria Estoria Britt.

  • Currently a Doctorate Candidate at New Jersey City University
  •  Bachelors of Science Degree in 1983 Elementary Education Winston-Salem State Univ.
  • Received a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology in 2003 with a 4.0 GPA
  • Certified Library Media Specialist 2006
  • Maintains Supervisor’s Certification
  • Certified Smartboard Instructor
  • Awarded Teacher of the Year for Grove Street School 2012-2013
  • Awarded Teacher of the District 2012-2013
  • Currently, employed as the Library Media Specialist at Grove Street School.
  • First African American Computer Lab Teacher in the Irvington Public School District.
  • Chairperson of the School Leadership Council
  • Served on school’s Data Collection Committee
  • Served on District Needs Assessment Committee Member
  • Coordinator of Grove Street School Celebrity Read Program
  • Served as The League Coordinator- Philanthropy Community Service Program
  • Coordinate the Grove Street School Community Technology Center to educate the community how to utilize computer software program and assist with job searches
  • Lifetime Member and Treasurer of the Grove Street School Parent Teacher Association
  • Currently, president of the Irvington High School Parent Teacher Student Association
  • Liaison for the Tools 4 School Program
