Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss Announces the Health Department Receives Shaping NJ Grant to Promote Healthy Living in Irvington

Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss and Irvington’s Health Director, Dr. Stephanie Bush-Baskette, announced that the Township has been awarded a $12,000 grant by ShapingNJ to further promote healthy living in Irvington.

“We are appreciative of this grant that will support our efforts to make Irvington a healthier place in which to live and work,” said Mayor Vauss. “The Health Department will use these funds to expand the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign.”

“As the director of the Health Department, I thank ShapingNJ for these resources. This will allow us to expand our current efforts to provide access to healthy foods and activities in Irvington,” said Dr. Bush-Baskette. “We will be using these monies to work with additional bodega owners to include healthy food choices in their markets, and to make sure that vending machines in public buildings include healthy alternatives among their offerings.”

“This is the fourth year the Irvington Health Department is receiving this grant to promote healthy lifestyle by increasing access to healthy food and physical activities,” indicated the Township’s Health Officer, Dr. Atif Nazir.
