Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss Announces Irvington’s Back to School Giveaway

Irvington, NJ, August 7, 2014:

Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss announced that on August 30th from 10:00AM until 2:00PM at the Irvington Neighborhood Improvement Corporation (INIC) located at 346 16th Avenue, there will be a Back to School Giveaway for Irvington’s students.

“On this date, the Township will be giving away backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, rulers, crayons, binders, and pencil sets, to help our children get ready for the new school year,” said Mayor Vauss. “We want all of our children to have the tools they need to excel in school, and this is our way of helping parents who may not have the financial resources to do so on their own.”

Parents or legal guardians must pre-register their children for the event between August 11th and August 22nd, at INIC.  This program is for Irvington residents only.  The following documents will be required for pre-registration: proof of residency; the child’s birth certificate; a photo ID of the parent; and, proof of income.

“This Giveaway will be on a first come first served basis and while supplies last, “said INIC’s Executive Director Deborah Simpkins. “I urge all eligible parents to pre-register their children early and benefit from this important opportunity.”
