Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss Receives Check from American Water

Mayor Tony Vauss announced that he received a check on behalf of the Township from American Water Company in the amount of $19,757.00.

“This check from American Water is payment for a permit to do work in our town.” said Mayor Vauss. “Until now utility companies have been coming into our town, breaking up our sidewalks and streets, and not returning them to an appropriate level. Many have been doing this work without the required permits. From the time I took the oath of office, I have made it clear to the utility companies that the rules for securing a permit will be followed in Irvington, just as they are in other towns.”

Many Irvington residents have voiced their concerns about the conditions of their sidewalks and streets after utility companies have made repairs to their systems. Mayor Vauss began having meetings with representatives of several of the companies to make it clear that permits must be secured before work begins and streets and    sidewalks must be repaired upon the completion of the job.

“I appreciate American Water acting in good faith and following the law,” said Mayor Vauss. “We look forward to other utility companies doing the same.”
