Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss welcomed three new small grocery stores, into the township’s Healthy Corner Stores Initiative. This is part of the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign – Shaping NJ. The
stores have agreed to provide their customers with fresh fruits and vegetables for purchase.

The three stores are: Family Supermarket located at 809 Stuyvesant Avenue; Kam’s Deli located at 287 40th Street, Irvington; and, Dollar Plus and Convenience Store located at 10 Washington Avenue. There are 6 additional stores already in the program.

“I thank these three store owners: Louis Fernandez, Sandy Patel, and Omar Patel, for being a part of the solution to help Irvington residents and visitors become healthy,” said Mayor Vauss. “By providing healthy food choices, these businesses are showing they care about Irvington.”

The Mayor presented each store with a four tier basket display which was filled with apples, bananas and oranges to start the partnership off. The store owners have agreed to keep these baskets filled with fresh fruits and vegetables.

This project is funded by the New Jersey Department of Health.
