Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss and the Irvington Township Council joined developers, dignitaries, and members of the community on May 18th for a ground breaking ceremony at the site of the former Irvington General Hospital. The hospital was located at 832 Chancellor Avenue in Irvington. It closed in 2006, and since that time the property has deteriorated into a blighted condition causing concern to the residents and the Administration.

“For about a decade, this property, once a prime location for health care and employment, has been an eyesore for our town,” said Mayor Vauss. “It has caused housing values to decrease and been of major concern to the people of Irvington. I am very pleased to announce that change is now here. May 18th, we marked the beginning of a major and positive transformation of the 7 acre site into a residential and retail community. This project will include 100 units of mixed income housing and retail space. During its development and once it is completed, not only will it be a tax ratable and improve the neighborhood, it will also provide employment opportunities for some of Irvington’s residents.”

The project known as The Skyline at HillTop, is being developed by   Kapwood, LLC and HillTop Partners.
