Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss and the Township Council welcomed hundreds of Irvington residents, their guests, and organizations to the Township’s Annual Memorial Day Parade on May 25th. The parade began at 11:00am in the Irvington High School Football Stadium and then followed an extended route through the town, with more parade participants than ever before.

“Our community came together to honor the sacrifices made by our service men and women who died while protecting our country,” said Mayor Vauss. “This memorial, in celebration of their lives and sacrifice, was a showing of strong unity in our town. We had more people than I have ever seen at the Memorial Day Parade, come together. This was the first time we began the parade at the Irvington High School Stadium, and that proved to be a perfect place to gather, eat, and talk about the supreme sacrifice made by so many of our men and women in the armed services. ”

“I was overjoyed and excited about this Memorial Day Parade,” said Donald Malloy, director of the Recreation Department for the Township. “The Township Administration worked closely with the Irvington Board of Education to make this the tremendous success it was. It was a new venture to have the parade begin at the high school. It was an excellent location.”
