Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss Announces Three Schools Open for Play on Saturdays

Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss announced that as part of the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign, three Irvington Schools will be open on Saturdays from 10:00am until 11:30am, beginning September 12th through December 19th, 2015. The three Irvington schools that will be opening their doors are: University Middle School, Union Avenue Middle School, and Florence Avenue Elementary School. The activities will include: basketball, volleyball, Zumba dance, jump rope, hula hoops, and more.

“I am very excited about this partnership between Town hall and the school district,” said Mayor Vauss. “Opening our schools on weekends so that our children can play and exercise in a safe environment, is one way we are making Irvington safer and healthier.”

This project is funded through a grant from ShapingNJ from the New Jersey Department of Health, and is administered through the Irvington Health Department.
